Miami Beach Chic Dining

I've written a couple of blogs about local, South Florida, content and each time it leads to a different post.  From shopping in Miami, to MOCA, to the New Performing Arts Center in Miami. This time, prompted by Eric Bouler's comment "You will have to do another on places to eat", I decided to write about an exquisite experience Rick and I had last weekend.

It was Sunday night, the babysitter was in place (Rick's mom:  Thank you Joyce).  Our last business meeting was at 9:30 PM (talk about having priorities messed up), and we decided to take a trip to The Shore Club, which was recommended by a dear friend.

The feeling is of tranquility and style.  When you walk out of the lobby you reach beautiful gardens with tropical landscaping and a reflection pool that directs you to the two restaurants (Nobu and Ago) within the Hotel Complex. All images copyright © Morgans Group LLC

Rick and I decided to eat at Nobu, The Japanese restaurant owned by Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert DeNiro.  It serves Japanese Inspired cuisine infused with Latin flavors.  Talk about a new twist on sushi.  We decided to sit at the bar while we waited for our table and got such incredible service from the bar tender that we ended up eating dinner there.  Sitting on modern stools on an acrylic bar, surrounded by surreal looking metal mesh lamps, Lup "the Mexican" (as the bartender likes to be called), new the menu inside out, prepared an amazing Lychee Martini for me and a Mojito for Rick.  We ate everything Lup recommended and each dish was better than the last.

Our menu selections included:

-Japanese Red Snapper Thai with dry miso

-Salmon New Style Roll

-Black Cod with miso

-Bento Box for dessert (hot chocolate soufflé with green tea ice cream)

Needless to say, we had a beautiful evening and recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Miami. We are also writing a letter to the restaurant's manager to let them know what an incredible experience we had at the bar because of Lup "The Mexican", don't forget to ask for him when you visit.

Wow, this is NOT your father's sushi bar! And a Lychee Martini? How cool is that? Finally one of the weird fruits on here gets some good press! Sushi is my fave food. The salmon roll sounds yummy!

TLW - you are such a blast!

Rich - that's exactly what I was thinking when I was there.  And you are surrounded by such an eclectic group of people too, it's what makes the experience complete. BTW - I added the Lychee Martini part just for you :)

Thanks for always checking in on my posts!

I'm keeping track of all the places to visit in journal. All the places appear great maybe you should start your own Zagat type pamphlet and market it.  Then you could give a copy to buyers at the closing table. Think of the restaurants that you like and recommend that will treat you special when you walk-in; heck they may give you a special table whenever you walk-in!

Angela - there are so many beautiful places like this in Miami.  Rick and I try to visit one new one every month and it is so much fun.  At least you have the cute Disney Resort in Vero - we used to take the kids there a lot.
